The
ODA-GAD network is a forum of gender and development (GAD) program officers in
official development assistance (ODA) agencies (multi-lateral, bilateral and
international NGOs) in the Philippines created in 2002 with the aim of
improving coordination of GAD efforts in the Philippines. The Philippine
Government is also represented in the network with the participation of the Philippine
Commission on Women (PCW) and the National Economic and Development Authority
(NEDA), which is responsible for the implementation of the ODA gender budget.
The
network members meet every two months in order to exchange information and
resources towards enhancing and advancing GAD policies, programs and
strategies. Discussions have focused, among others, on: monitoring
implementation of RA 7192, harmonization of GAD guidelines, sharing of best
practices in gender integration in programs and projects, gender equality in
judicial reform projects, codification of Muslim personal laws, mapping of
ODA-funded GAD projects, donor-specific activities such as gender audits,
evaluation of country programs vis-à-vis gender equality and gender
mainstreaming strategies within country programs and organizations.
